2024 Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the American Academy of Psychotherapists (MAAAP) Fall Salon
Sunday, September 22nd, 2024
2:00-6:30pm
1730 Rhode Island Avenue, NW
Washington, DC
Please join the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the American Academy of Psychotherapists (MAAAP) for our annual Fall Salon. This event is open to AAP members and non-members alike, but capacity is limited to 40 individuals.
The AAP Salon is a wonderful way to get to know some local therapists in a relaxing atmosphere and get a taste of what AAP is all about. The experiential nature of this Salon highlights some of the richness that AAP offers – the opportunity to observe a smaller group process (or to be a part of that process yourself) and to participate in a larger group process, with an emphasis on here and now processing. This year, the small group process experience (aka, the “fishbowl”) will be led by two long-standing AAP members, Thia Joseph, LICSW and Sean LeSane, LICSW. The final part of the Salon will be an unstructured opportunity to socialize with other participants over heavy appetizers and drinks. Overall, the Salon aims to create an atmosphere where people are free to share their insights, feelings and reactions in a ‘container’ that offers greater connection to other members of the community.

Registration
Please note: When you register for the Salon, you will have the choice to select the option to be one of the 8 individuals to participate in a 90-minute small group process led by Thia Joseph and Sean LeSane that will comprise the first part of the Salon. This group process will be silently witnessed by the larger community. Once this demonstration group concludes, the larger community will then have an opportunity to process their reactions to observing the demonstration group.
Mid-Atlantic AAP is now beginning a fund to help support those in our community with more limited financial means so that they can attend our local events with less financial impact on their lives. This fund will be totally comprised of donations. We hope to be able to offer financial assistance beginning at the 2025 Winter Workshop, depending on the amount of donations we receive. If you would like to donate to this fund, please do so here:
